Spire - Poem

THE LUMBERJACK

HE WHO IS KNOWN AS THE WOODCUTTER

THE BELOVED WOODSMAN

HUNTER . S . THOMPSON

MOUNTING AN

AMERICAN PAINTED HORSE

THE EVERGREEN

THE MYSTICAL FOREST

THIS SPIRITUAL TRANSCENDENTAL RIDE

BEYOND THE ORDINARY

EVERYDAY EXISTENCE

THOSE OTHERWORLDLY SOULS

RIDING CHOPPERS

AND HOGS

PAST RICKSHAWS

UNDER TREES OF MYTHICAL BIRDS

THE PHOENIX

CROWNED THE HARPY

HEARING THE CERBERUS

AND ITS THREE HEADED HOWL

WAILING IN THE STORMY WINDS

AS A TALL GREEN MAN

SHOWS YOU THE HIDDEN FOLK

OF THE FOREST

THE WITCH

THE DRAGON

A MAJESTIC CENTAUR

A SMILING GIANT

THE FLOWER PEOPLE

THE MONSTERS MADE BY MAN

AND ALL THE CHILDREN OF THE WOODS

HAPPY ELDER BIRDS

CHASING MIGRATING SWANS

WHILE THE HERMIT

WATCHES FROM THE MOUTH OF THE CAVE

WAITING ON THE WISE MEN

MIDNIGHT AT THE FARM

WHERE THE SATYRS DANCED WITH ORCS

WHILE THE SORCERER SPOKE TO THE TREES

LOOKING FOR THE MANDRAKE ROOT

IN THE UNDERBRUSH

WHERE THE GHOULS LIVED

TALKING TO THE GRAY WOLF

PLANTING HOUSEPLANTS

AVOIDING THE GIGANTIC WHITE CARNIVOROUS

INDUS WORM

STAYING CLOSE TO THE BURROUGHS

HAUNTED BY GHOSTS

IN THE TREES AT DUSK

THAT OMINOUS FEELING

CARRIED ON THE FOG

THE HILL MOSTLY A HOME

BENEATH A MOUNTAIN

A FORTRESS AFFAIR

THIS GREENBELT OF THE WOODLANDS

CANOPIES

AND CLEARINGS

DINGLE VALLEY

BRIARWOOD

A STAND OF SILVER MAPLE TREES

DEEP IN CONVERSATION

SHOUTING TO THE YEW TREE

AVOIDING EYE CONTACT WITH THE AMERICAN ELMS

TRUMPETING

THE GIANT SEQUOIA TREES

STOUT TREES

AND GOODLY GOOD

AS THE COASTAL REDWOODS

MADE THEIR WAY DOWN THE MOUNTAIN

TO THE SEA

BEWITCHING

BEGUILING

WHERE THE WIZARD ROAMED

FULL OF SORCERY

AND INCANTATIONS

THE LAST WOODS

BLACK MAGIC

AND A BEAUTIFUL SUMMER

A STRANGE SELF

WONDERFUL AND FREE

ALIVE

I HAD HEARD OF THE WOODLAND

THE PEDUNCULATE OAKS

THE MOUNTAIN ASHES

THE FOREST GROVE

THE COPPICING OF THE WOODS

THE THICKET OF TREES

CIRCLING THE CHESTNUTS

WHERE FIREWOOD LAID BARE ON THE GROUND

WAITING FOR COLLECTION

CEDARS AND FOREST TREASURES

WHERE THE WIND CHASED THE STARS

FIREFLIES THROUGH THE SUMMERTIMES

MASON JARS

OWLS

BATS

AND MICE

TWINKLED UNDER THE EYE OF THE SKYE

FAR FROM THE BITTER WINTER

BLUE ANTLERS

AND BLUE FLORA

GATHERED

LOVERS

AT THE EDGE

WHERE THE TOWN MET THE FOREST

KISSED BY A NAKED WIND

SPROUTING

FLOWERING

BLOOMING

FRAGRANT AND WOODY

THESE ANCIENT PLACES

THAT ARE FORESTS

UNBROKEN IN THIS WORLD

ENCHANTMENT

AS I SAW A MAN IN WHITE

PICKING WILD ONIONS

UNDER A HARVEST MOON

LARGE PLANTS

AND AN IMPERIAL MANDARIN TREE

WHERE THERE ONCE STOOD A HOUSE

RECLAIMED BY THE WOODS

OH WOODCUTTER

LUMBERJACK

GOD BLESS US ALL

IN THIS LIFECYCLE

OF STARS

I LOOK UP TO WAVE AT THE PEGASUS STALLION

FLYING OVER THE CHEESECLOTHE MOON

MIDNIGHT FLOWERED IN THE WHITEWOODS

ALONE IN A DREAM

WHILE SLEEPING IN A LIVING WORLD

THE SORCERER

HUGGING THE PINE TREES

CHANTING LOVE SPELLS

PULLING DOWN THE STARS,

BELOW THESE BLUE STARS

IN THE CONSTELLATION OF ORION

ARE THE MEDIEVAL KNIGHTS

THE THINGS OF ARTHURIAN LEGENDS

A SORCERER SEARCHING FOR THE CUP OF CHRIST

WAITING FOR THE HOLY GRAIL,

LOITERING FOR GOD

IN GREEN MOUNTAIN VERMONT

WITH THE GOLDEN SHAGBARK HICKORY TREES

AND ALL THESE TEMPLES OF THE FOREST

WAITING FOR THE RETURN OF THE MAGIC MAN,

UNDER THE BLUEBERRY SKYE,

AND WHILE I WAS DREAMING

I HEARD THE CHURCHBELLS RING,

IN REDFERN,

A PLACE IN THE SKYE
